An 84 Year Old Man Wrote This About His Wife
Man's Sweet Texts About His 27-Year Marriage Go Viral
When Sydney Willoughby, a high-school senior from San Antonio, was assigned to write a paper about her parents, she reached out to her dad for help and, to her surprise, his message about married life was profoundly moving.
Lance Willoughby, Sydney's 47-year-old father and a member of the military, responded to his daughter's inquiry with a few paragraphs explaining the ups and downs of his 27-year marriage to Sydney's mother, reports. His daughter was so touched by the heartfelt messages that she shared them on Twitter, where they have since racked up nearly 20,000 likes.
Lance explained that Sydney's mom, Kimberly, was the first to propose marriage, and it was the best thing to ever happen to him. "I was absolutely madly in love with your mom," he wrote to his daughter. "She was more than a dream come true for me. I see her as my best friend, my hilarious wife, and my beautiful queen."
After having two kids, the couple hit a rough patch. They were both working multiple jobs while Lance was in school, and weren't seeing enough of each other. Then they had their third child, Sydney, which gave them a chance to bond again. "Being away from your mom and my kids ripped the heart out of me," he wrote. "Didn't know it at the time, but you changed our lives."
After being away for school and work, Lance came home to his family, and fell in love with his wife all over again. "I've learned that it's easy to fall in love with the same person multiple times," he told .
At first, Lance was shocked that Sydney had shared his intimate thoughts on social media, but he soon became happy about it when he saw how many people connected with the message. "When [Sydney] first told me, I was like, 'You posted what? My personal text messages?'" he said. "But she did it with good intentions and it was sweet how she did it."
More than anything, he's so grateful for the life he's shared with his wife and children. "Bottom line, we fell into each other's lap under odd circumstances but it resulted in the coolest family ever," he wrote. "And it keeps growing. I've had the perfect life because of your mom.
